The NOLA Diabetes Project is an 8-week education program to help community residents living with diabetes understand more about how to control and manage their condition and promote self-care. The Project uses a collaborative approach utilizing community, academic, and clinical partnerships to improve public health of residents living in the New Orleans area.
The Flu Ready Nola Vaccine Campaign are free events for the public that feature $20 git card giveaways for every participant and and upfront access to onsite resource partners.
A concerted effort is being made to reach out to minority populations who could see adverse health effects, with specific concentrations in Eastern New Orleans, the Lower Ninth Ward, and Gentilly neighborhoods. Sankofa (CDC) partnered with Healthy Heart Community Prevention Project and many others to offer free flu vaccines.
